A Little Japanese

On our site, we sometimes use words such as: nani, kuso, baka, chibi, and mirai. Well, this is a small dictionary that tells you what those things say on our site.

kuso - pretty much translates to 'crud', 'darn' or even a 'damn'.

nani - "What the..." or just "What?"

shine - die

baka - used to call someone stupid, or an idiot

chibi - little

mirai - future

san - a suffix added to an elders' name to show respect Example: Piccolo-san

sama - a suffix added to someone who is higher than anyone else, a lord, god, prince, etc etc. Example: Kami-sama

shenlong - dragon; also is the Japanese name of the 'Eternal Dragon'.

senshi - warrior or warriors

sensei - master

manga - Japanese comic book

anime - 'animation': a Japanese cartoon

kawaii - a noun which means 'cute'

gomen - 'sorry'

ki - a word which refers to the energy inside of everyone

otaku - a big fan of something


Now that you understand a few words, you need to know how to pronounce them. This area shows you how you pronounce all of the vowls in the Japanese language. *note*: this is the basic stuff, if you really want a real lesson on Japanese, go get a real teacher

a - 'aw' ; like the word 'father'

i - the the long 'e' sound ; as in the word 'hero'

o - the long 'o' sound ; as in 'boat' or 'moe'

u - the short 'u' sound ; 'Gokou'

e - the long 'a' sound ; sounds like 'May' or 'okay'
